This is For Real the Last Time I Post About Gigawhat – For A While – Utah Music Photography

Posted by – February 4, 2011

We made a video of what it’s like to get shot by me, Trevor Christensen! This video features: monsters, my “I’m making a joke” face and vaguely illegal acts!

This is the last time I’m going to talk about Gigawhat for a while. I promise.

(Shout out to Alex Pow for filming this. Thanks, Alex.)

Provo Music – Gigawhat

Wednesday I’ll post a full write up of how Gigawhat and I made these band portraits, today is just images.

Thanks to Martin and Landon for putting up with my idea and helping me see it though.

Utah Musician Photography – Martin Bradshaw

I really love photographing musicians.

With certain kinds of portraiture, one is expected to produce very specific results. Family photos should be touching, engagement photos must illustrate love, wedding photos absolutely have to be in focus.

Conformists.

Band photography doesn’t start out with that kind of pretense. Members are typically not in love, nor are photos required to be touching. As an artist I typically have more freedom to portray musicians how I please. This situation lends itself to photos that are often more conceptual in nature.

So Martin Bradshaw recently approached me about photographing his band, Gigawhat. I know Martin, I’ve photographed him before, and I figured that he would be receptive to an idea I’ve been kicking around.

He was!

This project with Gigawhat is coming out in two parts. Today and Friday I post portraits I made of the members of Gigawhat, Martin and Landon. Then (weather permitting) Monday I post the other half of our project.

I’m excited.
