Assistance League at Wal-Mart

This is the kind of assignment that I look forward to.

The Assistance League of Southern Utah has been working to help children in need get essential school clothes. Samantha Sadlier wrote an article about it and I tagged along with a few families yesterday as they shopped. Typically chain retailers aren’t interested in letting the media take pictures inside their walls, so it was nice to be welcomed into the Hurricane Wal-Mart.

Anytime as assignment involves children, unique challenges are presented. Well, actually, it’s unique challenge. As in, “Kid stop looking at the camera.”

I’m satisfied with these images when presented as singles As a whole I think I could have done a better job illustrating the context in which they were taken. Maybe some wider shots of the store, since all I really have to show are close ups.

Here’s seven from yesterday.
