Yesterday on a walk to Wast Al-Balad I stopped to take a few unremarkable photos of the city. While I put my camera away, two girls passed me. As they did, I noticed that one was making a picture taking motion with her hands, wordlessly asking for her portrait. Not knowing the laws and customs of Jordan, I was somewhat hesitant to take her picture. But I decided that when an image presents itself, I think it’s best to shoot first and ask forgiveness later.

I knelt down, took my camera out of my bag and shot two frames. Then she ran off.
