Deaf people bring balloons when they go to concerts. They feel the vibrations.

It’s little bits of information like the preceding that make me think I should do something with that. I’m never quite sure what though. Sometimes I write an article about them and put it in my zine. Sometimes I draw a picture.

Sometimes I just tell people.

So this was an assignment for a graphics class in high school. We were supposed to create a superhero.

There was a caption on the left that read:
“Sig and Ned,
The Half Dead,
Inbred,
Newly Wed,
Under Fed,
Crime Fighting,
Differently Abled Twins.”
I’d like to say two things about this.
1. I’ve gotten better at drawing. Much better.
2. All color was done in Photoshop.

So I painted my hand a little bit. Then I painted a face.
And the portfolios on trevorchristensen.com are updated. A little.

I’m a big fan of watercolor. In fact, I like watercolor more then drawing. Adding shade, color and overall more depth to a picture is usually more interesting for me then actually drawing the picture in the first place.
Talking to a friend last night he mentioned a painting technique that he had tried recently. It’s basically painting backwards, where you put the color down before the ink.
The first picture is that technique straight, in the second I added some more color after the ink.

I’m not sure if it worked or not, but today I’ll try it again.

So yesterday I figured that if I don’t have a job I should at least try to paint & maybe send some emails about getting into a local boutique/gallery.
Since I’ve got a digital camera it’s a lot easier to draw figures. So if your thinking to yourself “hey, that looks sort of like Trevor” you’re right.

I don’t know what happened to my left arm. I think I stopped looking at the photo I was drawing from and started drawing from memory. That’s why it’s twice as big as it should be. It’s acrylic and gouache on wood and measures about 2 ft x 1.2 ft.

I painted this to trade for a jump drive. It measures 2 ft x 4 ft. (ish)

When Trace draws pictures that he doesn’t like and I feel like painting but not drawing I paint his “B” pictures. We call this collaboration “Citris”.

Now you know.

Back when I was into being punk and into being a Sophomore I emailed the owner of a locally run clothing company about how to become a designer.

After a month or so he emailed me back asking if I wanted to meet with him to propose some shirt designs.

We met at a skatepark and talked about xok for about an hour while I showed him some designs.

He said he liked my stuff and after the interview I emailed him the designs.

After that our correspondence fell apart and I figured that was the end of it.

Well today I decided to check out xokclothing.com for kicks and if you click on “store” you’ll see a splash screen featuring a cartoon I used to draw that I called Anarchy Bot.

A little more investigation lead me to they’re myspace page’s blog which features a new list of shirts, one of them featuring xok bot.

So that’s what’s new.

Anarchy Bot, how I’ve missed you!

It’s sort of funny that they changed the pages background color to blue, because it looks like real shit that way.

Trace and I have been getting together to paint n’ stuff lately. The mangled body at the desk is Trace’s.

It’d be sweet if I said that the camera was a self-portrait.

title: Kill The Body And The Head Will Die

About two weeks ago I was having some trouble sleeping. Usually when I can’t sleep I read, but because I had just finished Killing Yourself To Live I was having good-book withdrawal (you know when you like a book so much that after it’s done you don’t feel like reading anything else for a while).

So instead of reading I decided to paint, and this is the fruit of my insomnia.

I’m really quite proud of it. I like the style that is starting to come out and I like hollow look on the mans face. I’m stoked.

Update: [10/9] I started reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and decided that ‘Kill The Body And The Head Will Die’ is a good name for this piece.
