So yesterday I figured that if I donāt have a job I should at least try to paint & maybe send some emails about getting into a local boutique/gallery.
Since Iāve got a digital camera itās a lot easier to draw figures. So if your thinking to yourself āhey, that looks sort of like Trevorā youāre right.

I donāt know what happened to my left arm. I think I stopped looking at the photo I was drawing from and started drawing from memory. Thatās why itās twice as big as it should be. It’s acrylic and gouache on wood and measures about 2 ft x 1.2 ft.

Yesterday my Pentax *ist DS2 came in the mail. The first photos in this set are of my bud Bruce.

These photos are of Trace. Today we (sort of) had an art day. Lately our arts days donāt have much to do with art and I always end up taking him to his girlfriends house and the end.

So there you go. Some of the first photographs from my new DSLR.
Ok. So trevorchristensen.com has been updated. If youāre into that sort of thing then take a look.
This is my grandfather, affectionately called āGrompieā by everyone who ever knew him while there were under the age of five. When editing these photos I was struck with how much I noticed about my grandfatherās that I hadnāt before. It makes sense that when my entire focus is on him I would see more then I normally do.

This picture is from about the middle of my Sophomore year. I took it while wandering around the student housing just of campus of BYU. Here are some things that I like about this picture.
1. The light cast on the fence from the setting sun.
2. The harsh but not completely black shadow cast by Griffin.
3. The height of his jump.
4. The only truly bright (white) part of the picture is the fence.
5. I just like it.
The thing is (and it is a deal breaker) that heās not in focus. When I took this picture I was experimenting with focus. So the sign, not the subject is in focus.
Aww.

When I go to job interviews this it how I look. Aquward stare, hands in pockets and dread-ponytail. Maybe this is why Iām unemployed?
In an effort to not be poor and unhappy Iāve put up a portfolio on trevorchristensen.com. Itās twelve black and white images that Iām pretty happy with. And with a little luck maybe Iāll get a job somewhere (sometime). Incidentally the portraits from that page are some of the ones appearing in the art show that Trace and I are having.
Iām not sure how much Iāve talked about the art show that Trace and I are planning to do but hereās a rundown. Trace Willamson draws people, I photograph them. When neither of us are feeling it we he draws and I paint (citris).
So weāre planning on having an art show. Gallery One Ten is the tentative location, but nothingās set in stone. The theme is People and will feature people Iāve photographed and people Trace has drawn. Iām about half way done with my portion of the show and Trace is about the same.
Unless we think of a better name for the show itās title is Indies and Outies.
So thatās what going on.
This is my first time shooting anyone over the age of fifty (an āold personā if you will), if I were to do it again Iād put some more light on the front of his face to take a little less shadow from the winkles.
Anyway, this is my grandfather. For as long a I can remember heās been called āGrompieā.

So thereās some fun insider information for you.
